Plein Air Landscapes – Painting on Location in Gouache
A 2 day workshop in painting on location with gouache in Talley Day Park, New Castle County Delaware.
A workshop offered through Jester Artspace.
We painted in Talley Day Park, conveniently located on Foulk Road, next to the Brandywine Hundred Library. My demo painting is shown above.
Topics covered included:
- planning a landscape painting
- judging proportions in a sketch and in your painting
- mixing colors in gouache
- blocking in, adding details and textures
- mixing water with gouache paints to achieve the best consistency
- creating textures and using different brushes for a variety of effects
