Enjoy the fun of “Urban Sketching”, the practice of sketching on location in cities and towns or rural areas with buildings. Urban sketching is a growing movement, with local groups and an international organization devoted to promoting the practice.

In this two-day workshop on the shady green median of the Kentmere Parkway in front of the Delaware Art Museum, instructor Charley Parker will introduce you to basic tools and techniques for urban sketching.

Topics will include: choosing a subject; arranging a composition; sketching in pencil, pen, markers and watercolor, judging proportions when sketching houses, streets and other commercial buildings and how to apply perspective when sketching architecture.

The sessions will include a demo by the instructor. All skill levels welcome. You can find materials information here.

Two three-hour sessions, DAM members $85, non-members: #105. More info on the museum website.
